Making the switch to Trio or Tandem
Many employers are facing hard decisions right now due to the economic impact of COVID-19. If you’re looking for ways to reduce operating costs, consider switching your coverage to our Trio HMO and Tandem PPO plans. These plans offer high-value coverage for members, with even more features than our full network plans--all at a noticeably lower premium. While the networks are somewhat smaller, some of your employees may already be seeing doctors in the Trio and Tandem networks so they’ll be able to keep their doctors and have lower out-of-pocket costs. And they’ll receive additional benefits, like $0 Teladoc visits and Shield Concierge support, that enhance access and convenience.
Switching plans is easy. Employers1 can always change plans during their annual renewal. Additionally, through the end of 2020, you can switch to Trio or Tandem plans outside of their renewal period2. With an off-cycle plan change, you’ll need to stay with the same product. For example, PPO customers can switch to the lower cost Tandem PPO. If you decide to switch, we’ll work with you to ensure enrollment is easy for employees and their transition to new coverage is smooth.

Small businesses should contact their broker for details on plan change options.
Small business and large groups, up to 3,000 employees.
For administrative purposes, groups will not be able to change plans within 60 days of their renewal effective date.
